A decision only counts on landing, and only if the bird cleared 140 m from the loft and held more than 8 m of altitude. Heading becomes the direction , altitude becomes the magnitude. Anything else is logged and discarded.

The rule was fixed before the first flight and has not been touched since. Every flight below was recorded off the tracker, qualified or thrown out by the same thresholds, and written down the day it happened. 6 became signals. 2 did not.

A signal is a published reading, not an instruction. Nothing is bought, sold or moved on the bird's behalf — the record is the product.
A real bird, not a metaphor
There is one pigeon. It lives in a loft on a roof, it is fed, it flies when it wants to and it comes back because that is what homing pigeons do. A tracker rides on its back and reports position, altitude and speed. Nothing here is a model of a bird or an animation of a bird.
The bird has no idea any of this exists. It is not trained toward an outcome, it is not rewarded for a heading, and it is never steered. Every decision on this page is read out of a flight that would have happened anyway. That is the whole trick, and there is nothing underneath it.
Four numbers come off the bird
The direction the bird is actually pointing when it lands. Sets the compass sector of the decision — nothing else touches it.
Metres above the loft roof, taken at the moment of landing. Becomes the magnitude, scaled against a 90 m ceiling.
Straight-line distance from the loft. Under 140 m the flight is a hop around the roof, and the decision is thrown away.
The commit. Nothing is decided in the air — a decision exists only once the feet are back on wood.

The parts that aren't the pigeon
- The camera is a rebroadcast.
The footage in the live panel is recorded, looped and labelled as such. It is not a socket to a camera on the roof.

Until the tracker feed is wired in, the position, altitude and speed you see come from a flight model running in your browser — one bird, one loft, plausible flights, real time of day.
- The bird decides nothing.
A pigeon has no view about anything on this page. A heading is a heading. Any meaning attached to it was attached by a person.
- The rule is a choice.
Heading-as-direction and altitude-as-magnitude are arbitrary. They were fixed before the first flight so they could not be tuned to a result, but nothing about a bird makes them the right rule.
